Comin soon to Hawai'i and at the Pipeline Cafe Hard Rock Palace - Back
In Black! the best AC/DC tribute band aroud! Check em out here... A vid I shot when they last visited us March '08.
They hit
the stage Oct. 17 2009. Don't miss it!
Well, all I can say
about last nite's Rock Solid Friday is tell all yer friends who didn't
come what a great show they missed cuz I lost my ass on that one!
Nah. Joke. It was a fabulous show. Ya know all those youtube vids of the
Strangers? well, like in a place like Pipeline, they seemed to be oh
about 800% better than that! They really rocked! Then Big Dawg took the
stage. lemme tellya the two guitar combo, man it was a thing of beauty.
BD did led zepp. AC/DC. Humble Pie. every song was choice, every song an
avalanche of rock pouring off the stage crashing into the ocean. Tom
Hinson's shreddin on his archtop Gold Les Paul Gibson was amazing. And
his slide guitar, heavenly! Perfect compliment to Ted Among's fab
playing! And Woody providing the powerful Bonzo like drum beat and Unco
Joe Galisa's amazing basslines fronted by our own wailing banshee
Marriott/Plant/Tyleresque Brett Wolfington! Michelle Shockley kept us
all enrapt with her fab hostessing... Also BariBari 13 gave us some fun,
wild fast rockabilly in their own inimitable style!
Oh. and Kimo's Psychedelic Light Show projected all around da house was a hit with all concerned. Thengyuh. Thengewvurrymush!
Great job guys! You
kept the house rockin' and got everyone dancin! Those who made it, had
an incredible time. Those who didn't. well there is two weeks from now.
See new posters below...

OK, Gang! Rock Solid Fridays.
here's the poster:
Here's the previous one (and the even earlier one for April, below that)
but since i don't wanna push a punk rock event, and i wanna stress other
things more than oversize fonts, and i don't want people sayin; "ok.
been there, done that. That's an old event!" ...being the rebel i am,
whipped up the completely different looking, overly psychedelic one
above, to supplement the dark forboding ones below......
This is a twice monthly tradition that Pipeline Cafe Hawaii is giving
us local rockers one and all.... with the help of a few various and
sundry dinosaurs of the rock industry, big and small... and we have had
a few events already; they are growing in popularity. But still, we
wanna see more people support live, local late breaking.. sorry. Wrong
channel. Support Live Local Rock Musicians. In fact anything live! If
it's dead, we eat it or bury it. If it's live, we throw it up on stage,
yell at it till it hops around and soon it sees money being tossed. Good
show. I'll buy that for a dollar.
OK. this next one, we get
BariBari 13. Japanese Influence Motorcycle Rock/ Rockabilly music! these
guys are a gas, gas, gasss! A real hoot and fun ta watch!
On
the same bill, we get The Strangers. Local veterans of the live rock
circuit. Good stuff. And two guitars! yer ol Cuzin Kimo luvs that combo.
The Stranger's set will include many fab sounding originals
and a few covers including Springsteen and The Who...
"Pick up
my guitar and play
Just like yesterday"
that's what we're all
about, eh?!
trivia: Springsteen's ostensive moniker; "The Boss" is something he
actually disdains. don't like it much at all. And it certainly ain't
sumpin he or his camp initiated... He previously had a nickname: The
Doctor.
Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen will be celebrating his
birthday soon - September 23
all true.
thank you.
Big
Dawg rounds out the night and that can't make us happier. (Well, unless
ya gave us a lapdance at the same time) But yea. Brett and da boys will
laden us with (is that a word?) Led Zeppelin, and AC/ DC. for only
seven bucks , jay zeuz, why da hell not!?
But wait, there's
MORE!
You will also be endazzled, enrapt and enchanted (and yea, why not;
enormously enertained) by the inclusion of "Kimo's Psychedelic Light
Show" which will be beamed up on all those big screens all around the
joint! Yes dear friends and enemas, while your mind, heart and soul is
snared by the sweet soundz of the psychedelic and classic rock of da
60's and 70's... your ocular orbs will receive a heavy dose of eye candy
enuff to give ya diabetes of the retina!
so. be there. or be
square root of all evil.
ok. Some have axed us. wot da hell
happened to the previous lineup?! Lucky 13, (fabulous up and coming hard
rock band with a polished sound...) disappeared from the playbill. Word
on da street has it a certain member has creative differences and may
wanna go in another direction, to the possible alledged chagrin of most
all the other members. (Let's just say one in particular had the
inclination to dance to the beat of a different drummer...) Ok. here's
hopin' everything heals wikiwiki like. and we get on with the show. Cuz
bruddah, if ya caught them live, ya want more.
OK! Soon! ( and that means about a month or less?) We have the Journey
Tribute band! Check out some advance info about it via the Military
package deal flyer I just whipped up for Brett...
Rumour Mill: Word on da streeet has it that Dread Zeppelin may be headed
here. Also Blue Cheer! And maybe NashVille Pussy.

Pressure.Come to the CD release party Oct. 9th at Anna Bananas!
Written on Sept. 3, 09.... BlackSquare may do aquick California
tour first week in November. They havea bunch of shows this month. Their
regular 1st Saturdays (Boarddriders, Kailua (Hamakua St) THISSAT) and
3rd Saturdays (Indigo) along with their return to Kemoo Farms (this Sun)
the Mililani Shack (Sept 11th) their second show at Hawaiian Brians
(Friday Sept 25th) and their second Ala Moana Center Stage show Saturday
Sept 26th at 2pm. But most likely the craziest show they have this month
is a pau hana set at Rumfire, Waikiki Sheraton. Josh straight out told
them they were crazy to book BlackSquare, but they wanted to anyway. The
last time they played Waikiki they almost got the manager of the venue
fired. Come down Sept 17th for a who da hell knows what may happen kinda
show!
Remember that hard rockin band a while ago? MVA was their
name. Stood for Motor Vehicle Accident. Many of the members were Star
Bulletin staffers. (MVA is code for a particular news assignment) Anyway
it featured among others, Dick walker and Jam Aquino, SB photogs. Later
they had a Love Child. No, really! Their next band was called LoveChile OK! So,
Mister walker is moving to seattle and jam is rockin on with another
Power Threesome group: JJ Walker Trio... (No website yet) They play this
Sat at Red Lion University from 10pm. Also play every third thursday at
Bar 35 in Chinatown. Lovechile is on indefinite hiatus right now with
the departure of Richard Walker and Pimpbot's tour.
OK, gangey! taaanx for tuning in... More later!
...herewith, a growing section of links. Most are missing.
