The Return of the Hammer of the Gods.
Because of the amazing response and fabulous turnout last year at the
Live Led Zeppelin tribute concert, Led Zepplica returns for the
"Stairway to Heaven Encore Event" at the Pipeline cafe on Jan 14, 2006,
Saturday nite!
Treat yourself and your friends to the incredible Led Zeppelin
experience. But it's not just 4 hours of great live rock music! It is a
live rock concert recorded for posterity onto CD for our guys and gals
in the Military!
Led Zep for our Troops
I talked with Lenny, who does the Jimmy Page part in Led Zepplica, and
he was eager to tell me about their support of our troops and the
upcoming event:
"So many of our island friends in the military have conveyed their love
for classic rock and Led Zepp, but they are unable to attend due to
deployment in Afghanistan or Iraq. Their loved ones also have also
lamented their mates not being able to attend because of these
assignments."
I replied, "yea, Lenny, our local military stationed and living in our
islands love classic rock as much as "civilian" fans do... But how are
you going to help them?"
"Well, we would love to dedicate each song we perform to a division or
unit whose name is supplied to us prior to the show. For those heroes
lost in action, individual names along with their division will be
acknowledged. The Live Led Zepplica concert on Jan. 14 2006 will be
recorded and the resulting live Rock Concert cd will be made available
to everyone who requested these dedications."
wow. that's pretty cool. So; if you like classic rock, if you love Led
Zepp, if you missed them "back in the day"... if you weren't even around
back in they day, come on down to the Pipeline on Jan 14. 2006 and be a
part of a live CD rock concert recording and experience what it was like
to attend a Led Zeppelin early 1970's live rock concert for yourself!

On August 19, 2005 Led Zepplica performed at the Pipeline Cafe
in Hawaii to a packed house of crazed Led Zeppelin fans. The show was
such a success, that the very next day, management gave Zepplica a
return date.
OK, so newsflash! ...on da coconut
wireless, we hear Led Zepplica is slated to return in January 2006 to
our luverlee eye land. So... we can hear more of what we live on and
for; da rock of da zepp. Although other Led Zep tribute bands have been
calling a few promoters here in the islands, trying to get a gig on
Oahu, this action has helped Zepplica, cuz apparently, the booking
agents backed up and queried: "now wait just a minute: who are all these
people, what do they do and who is no ka oi?" and asked around, and in
their research, found Zepplica has the widest appeal, the best rep, the
longest running, (since 1989) and is the closest replication of an early
Led Zeppelin concert. So, naturally, they chose Lenny and da boyz.
The next event, insiders say, will give our loyal Hawaiian
audience more bang fer their buck; an even longer set than last time to
take our local rockers on the stairway to Zepp heaven! Whootah!
Ok, so what about the first visit? The Zep party was Sat
nite Aug 20, '05 at da Pipe. It was a full house. SLUG gave us a
powerful set of classic Black Sabbath and others, and got the crowd
pumped up fully. These guys shred. Shred for Led. That's what I wanted
and that's what I got.
(Later, there was mutual
acknowledgment; "You guys are great." "no, YOU guys are great!"....
between SLUG and ZEPP.)
After a little while of stage changes,
Zepplica hit and it was like a monsoon. A tsunami of energy pushed
toward the stage and when the first notes hit, the love went right back,
multiplied. The audience went nuts. And the decible level of adulation
rose incrementally as each song flowed through the cavernous Pipeline
cafe, across "the ocean".
Toward the end, Hawaii did not want
to see the boys leave. It was a near riot. I haven't heard noise like
that in a long time, demanding another encore. During the show, a girl
popped into the green room so she could hear her self on the cell phone
and she was yelling, "GET down here, These guys are amazing. Ya gotta
see this. It's incredible!"
Zepplica has been known to play straight through for three hours many
times, but as the Pipeline has a ten pm cerfew, to allow for their late
nite "programming" (last nite was a dj'ed fashion show) the set was just
under two hours. But given half a chance they woulda raised the sun and
raised the dead.
So... the Hawaii visit by Led Zepplica was a slam bang success on all
levels. And it was filmed.... and a rock documentary may be
forthcoming.... Concert, sailing, cruise the island, eat ono kine
Hawaiian original authentical local kine plate lunch, (Pagey loved da
poi and is hooked for life...) more nitelife, Duke's, many beaches, got
fried, sunburned bright red. The video will be titled: "Some Kind of
Lobster".
